Welcome to the Relationships, Emotion, and Health Lab at SFSU

Romantic relationships are an important part of most people's lives. Relationship discord is associated with negative mental and physical health outcomes. Conversely, emotional or health-related issues can be a source of strain for a relationship. Therefore, it is critical to understand these linkages in order to develop and apply effective interventions that improve functioning in all domains.

The REH lab uses a range of self-report, behavioral, and physiological methodologies to examine the connections between intimate relationship processes, emotional functioning, and mental and physical health. The lab additionally explores how various processes may be the same or different for same-sex as opposed to cross-sex couples. For more about the lab, please see our ongoing Research Projects page or visit our Get Involved page for information on how to become a research assistant or participate in a study.
